Principal News

The year is almost over with many events set for the coming three weeks of school. Between swimming lessons, Year 6 High School Transition, Bump up afternoon, Recorder Band Christmas Tour, Awards Night (Year 5 & 6) and Awards Parade (Years 3 & 4) and our Christmas Concert, we have quite a few activities to keep us busy.
This week we commenced our First Nations Reference Group with the intention of ensuring a whole school approach to planning our First Nations events throughout the year. I am very excited to work with this group of committed parents moving forward. Our next meeting is on Wednesday the 11th of December at 3:30pm and we would invite you to join with this group if you have a passion around our First Nations work.
During the week, our Year 6 students have had the opportunity of extending their STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) abilities in a sustainability challenge hosted by STEM Punks. Students have been thoroughly engaged throughout these days and I congratulate them for their positive attitude and their persistence during these sessions.
Our Junior and Senior Awards ceremonies are coming up in Week 10 with our Year 3 and 4 Awards Parade occurring on Friday the 6th of December and The Year 5 and 6 and major awards night occurring on Thursday the 5th of December at 5:30pm. Students receiving an award at either of these events will receive an envelope inviting the parents to attend the awards ceremonies prior to the end of Week 9. I look forward to celebrating the hard work that the students of Fitzgerald during these two occasions.
This week marks the end of our Prep Transition sessions and I would like to thank all of the parents for enabling their children to participate. We are looking forward to welcoming all of these families to Fitzgerald for 2025.
